On Saturday, Sept. 14, Imagine Fitness and Yoga hosted an Open House event at the studio to benefit the new Fisher House location in Ann Arbor, and our community turned out in force! Thanks to a morning of free classes in yoga, joint stabilization, circuit training, cycling and more, our members and guests donated $3,622 to the first Fisher House location in Michigan!

A “Fisher House” is a “home away from home” where military family and Veterans’ family members can stay at no cost while a family member receives treatment. There are Fisher House locations near many major military and VA medical centers nationwide. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $407 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

A special feature of the Open House was a yoga class taught by Bernadette Soler, a proud military spouse, 500-hour yoga teacher, yoga therapist-in-training, Certified Personal Trainer, Reiki Master Teacher, and owner of wellness lifestyle company and chic leggings line, Doll Yoga Wear, LLC. She has been teaching group yoga classes for more than seven years, and also specializes in developing unique yoga practices for individuals and special populations, including (but not limited to) military personnel and their families, corporate wellness settings, kids, and seniors. She brings the authentic and traditional teachings of yoga and applies them to your modern lifestyle in a simple and effective way. Bernadette has experienced the powerful life-changing effects of yoga, and is excited to help others move in the direction of their highest potential by way of these ancient teachings.

There were plenty of snacks and refreshments for the members and guests, and massage therapist Bert Lopez made himself available for those who needed to get a few kinks worked out. Bert has been the Director of the Sports Massage Team at the Detroit Marathon as well as the massage therapist for the University of Michigan women’s swimming & diving team. He’s also been a massage therapist for Club Wolverine for the last two U.S. Olympic Trials. (You can schedule your own private session with Bert, who provides therapeutic massage to promote relaxation and overall well-being. Just give us a call at 734-622-8119.)

We have a great community of instructors and clients here at Imagine Fitness and Yoga, and we love to do different things to celebrate that community. We have had several fun activities we this summer to give our Imagine “family” a chance to be together outside of the studio.

There was a great turnout on a beautiful summer evening for our Client Appreciation Party at the Top of the Park. Attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet, live music, refreshing summer beverages, and plenty of friends!

One of our staff members this summer, Megan Grosso, performed at the Encore Theater in Dexter in that company’s performances of George and Ira Gershwin’s “Crazy For You.” To show support and appreciation for Megan, 30 members of the Imagine community journeyed to Dexter to take in one of shows on July 25, making the Imagine contingent a healthy fraction of the evening’s audience. Megan (and the rest of the show) was superb, and everyone from Imagine enjoyed the performance!

A “Vin and Vino” night at the studio on July 26 included some yoga with Marty Betts and a post-yoga Happy Hour! Look for more of these types of events at the studio in the upcoming months.
