Sandra Allen
Sandra Allen

Sandra began practicing Ashtanga yoga daily in 2013; but was introduced to the method in 2000. She traveled to Ottawa, Canada to study with David Swenson,  one of the original North American teachers of Ashtanga Yoga as was taught to him in Mysore, India in the 1970’s. The journey has taught her how strong the human spirit and body can be, regardless of age. Using Ashtanga yoga as a foundation, Sandra also teaches Vinyasa yoga and modified Ashtanga classes. Take advantage of Sandra’s opportunity to learn the basics in a free weekly 20 minute Express Yoga class.  Express Yoga will break down the traditional basic poses in yoga that are found in every type of class.  Schedule

Wendy Dolen

Wendy has over 30 years of experience in the health and wellness industry, dedicating her career to empowering individuals to achieve their optimal health and well-being potential. Since 1996,  she has worked for the Health and Well-Being Services at the University of Michigan as a wellness coordinator and exercise physiologist.  In 2020, Wendy began working as a Movement Therapist at Michigan Medicine, teaching patients how to manage their chronic pain.  Wendy has taught mindfulness meditation, yoga, and personal training for over 25 years.

Wendy teaches two regularly scheduled classes a week and offers private sessions focused on Movement Therapy.  Call for an opportunity to meet with Wendy and see how much better you will feel. Schedule.

Sara Atwell

Sara’s a 500-hour yoga instructor with certifications in Pilates and Gyrotonics, has a passion to support people in their journey to physical health and wellbeing. Sara teaches Hatha, Vinyasa flow, YIN and Restorative yoga, and  trains all Pilates modalities; Mat, Barrels, Cadillac, Chair and Reformer, and Gyrotonics.

As a nurse, Sara combines her knowledge of anatomy and movement with everyone’s unique physical conditions such as osteoporosis, scoliosis and any muscular/skeletal conditions. She love to meet people where they are and support each person’s quest for healthy happy movement that in turn makes for a healthy happy life. Schedule of classes.

Caitie Shaughnessy

Caitie Shaughnessy, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, has been teaching yoga throughout the Ann Arbor area since 2007. She brings a passion for sharing the joys of yoga to her teaching, as well as a desire to make yoga accessible, comfortable and safe for everyone. With a strong background in vinyasa, extensive training in Integral Hatha yoga, and deep experience of the benefits of restorative yoga, Caitie fuses these different styles into her teaching and adapts her classes based on the needs of the individuals and groups she meets.

 Laurie has been teaching for almost 20 years and continues to study a traditional style of practice that emphasizes safe, accessible alignment along with relaxation, breathing and meditation to help quiet the mind.

Laurie’s yoga study led her to study Ayurveda – the science of life. Considered the sister science of Yoga, Ayurveda’s emphasis is on using yoga, meditation, a diet and lifestyle right for you to create health and balance. Laurie recently completed a 1600 hr training , becoming an Ayurveda Practitioner.

Lisa Camfield

As an exercise physiologist, Lisa has over 20 years of experience in the health and wellness space. Her classes explore a wide variety of exercises focused on increasing overall strength and improving balance while having fun!

Jill Goldstein

Jill is a licensed group fitness instructor dedicated to helping people stay healthy and active.  A former attorney who after years of practicing law shifted gears to combine her love of music with fitness, creates energizing workouts that inspire others to move and groove.  Jill brings enthusiasm, energy, and a zest for life to everything she does!

Carmo Ribiero

Carmo Ribeiro leads a few of our Tai-Chi classes. Originally from Brazil, Carmo has spent half his life in Ann Arbor. After years in American corporate roles, focusing on process development and innovation, he ventured into new territory with the franchise Seniors Helping Seniors. For Carmo, Tai-Chi is an evolving process that never ends. It benefits balance, strength, meditation, and helps to turn off a busy day to a personal moment.

Stuart teaches the Yang style tai chi “long form,” a solo exercise that builds balance, encourages internal alignment, body awareness, and can be used for moving meditation or martial arts. Stuart enjoys helping others discover and explore the forms of Tai Chi as insights are gained and movements become more integrated.
