Pilates is a low impact exercise system that is designed for all ages and levels of fitness to improve strength, flexibility, posture and coordination.

The 6 principles of Pilates include control, breath, coordination, precision, centering, and concentration; flow can be found in every exercise session. The system engages the mind and body to create body awareness by focusing your attention on each exercise movement. It is designed to optimize muscle strength and fine tune neuromuscular patterns. The system is used for rehabilitation, strength, and flexibility.

Pilates was pioneered by Joseph Pilates in the early 1920’s to improve his own health. It has been adopted around the world to improve physical fitness and longevity in life.

Reformer Training

Reformer Training is now available at Imagine for your personal benefit. The Reformer is built as a rectangular frame with a flat platform on it which rolls back and forth on wheels within the frame. One end of the reformer attaches to a set of springs which are adjusted to offer varying levels of resistance. Your own body weight and adjustment of the springs customize the strength training for each individual, working all parts and movement of the body. Reformer Pilates conditions the whole body, with modifications to the exercises to allow for a range of difficulty ranging from beginning to advanced.
